The ABC/World Diamond Source Billfish Challenge was held February 19-22nd out of three South Florida inlets. Points were awarded for billfish releases as well as weighable species, which included Dolphin and Kingfish. At the end of the day 127 sailfish were released by the competing 71 boats.
First place went to ANOTHER BILL with 8 sail releases for a total prize of $17,750. HARD WAY and SCALES Pro Team CHIPS AHOY, rounded out the top three with 7 releases each.
Capt. Chip Sheehan (CHIPS AHOY) made the decision to stay north and check out of Lake Worth inlet, which paid off with a total prize of $21,350.
SCALES Pro Team KERI-N-ON decided to go after Kingfish and take down the Big Fish Bonanza category. At the end of the day their 31.4 lb. King held up for 1st place and total winnings of $9,950.
Another SCALES Pro Team QUALIFIER took down Champion’s Cut for top boat out of their inlet. They took home a total of $9,900 in winnings.
Team HOSTILE, with Capt. Ray Rosher, took home top prize money with a total of $82,980, congrats to them.
