SCALES Bahamas Relief Initiative

The Worst On Record

Hurricane Dorian is the worst disaster in the history of the Bahamas with at least 50 dead – a number that is expected to rise dramatically –, 70,000 people currently homeless and 1300 are still missing. Furthermore, early estimates are putting property damage at $7 billion or more. The storm reached sustained winds of 185 mph as it reached the Great Abaco and Grand Bahama islands, where it stalled for 40 hours, wiping out entire communities. It was the strongest hurricane on record in the Bahamas since records began in 1851.

 The SCALES Relief Initiative

As a South Florida-based fishing apparel company, SCALES has strong ties to the Bahamas – we have family there, we have friends there, and we fish there. With this in mind, we here at SCALES feel it is our duty to help our friends in the Bahamas. To that end, SCALES will also be donating our UPF 50+ products to clothe and protect. Furthermore, 100% of all proceeds of SCALES' Bahamas Collection products will be going to relief efforts. We are also accepting donations to Help Rebuild the Bahamas. Please visit our SCALES/American Red Cross page – every little bit helps!

Our Community

So far, the response on this has been absolutely amazing! It's an awesome thing to see the fishing community come together to take care of a place that's so dear to all of us. SCALES would like to thank all of you for your support in our efforts to aid the Bahamas and will keep you informed of our progress.
